My first patient from my charity project “Healthy Children”.

Albert is 5 years old. He was born with a rare neurological disorder called Moebius syndrome, that has caused a facial paralysis. He was also born with an undeveloped left arm and was delayed for a year in his developmental milestones, such as crawling and walking as a baby.

As a result of the facial paralysis Albert has difficulty to close his eyes (he can only roll them), can’t form facial expressions such as a smile or sadness during crying, had difficulty with swallowing since birth and speech difficulties- he can pronunciate only certain letters and has difficulty with sticking out his tongue.

Albert is going to Year 1 and is intelligent, although his school life can be challenged by many factors.

My Osteopathic treatment plan is based on principles that the body is a unit and that the body has an inherent capacity to maintain its own health and to heal itself. It’s aim is to decrease the spasticity in his limbs and decrease facial palsy, to help him to improve his balance & coordination, rebuild the muscle strength, improve his posture, improve his cranio-sacral rhythm, improve the work of the abdominal organs and improve immunity.

Albert’s first cranial treatment went well and he was able to relax as much as he could. That allowed me to understand his cranio-sacral rhythm and feel the restriction within his systems.

With time, I’ll write an update about the progress on Albert’s treatment.
