During the pregnancy a women’s body undergoes a massive physical and emotional change.
Hormonal change and increased blood volume (by 20-100% above pre-pregnancy levels) can lead to such symptoms as excessive fatigue, mood swings, anxiety, nausea, dizziness, bloating, constipation, or breathlessness.
As the baby grows in the uterus, a women’s body changes, leading to abdominal organs shifting, changing the shape and pressure on the pelvis, as well as the center of gravity alters.
Hormone Relaxin’s release changes laxity of the muscles, ligaments and joints (especially in the pelvis) preparing the body for the delivery of the baby, can cause pains and aches in hip, groin and abdomen.
Often, pregnant women complain on having lower back, sacrum pain and pelvic girdle pain, shooting pain radiating down their legs, discomfort in their rib cage, headaches and other symptoms.
I do believe that the stress levels of the future Mum have a direct correlation and impact on Baby’s emotional and physical health and development.
My osteopathic treatment for prenatal care aims to reduce stress and anxiety levels, improve the action of the diaphragm, release ligamentous and muscular tension, balance the sacrum and pelvis, as well as release the tension off the pelvic floor and reduce pelvic girdle pain.
I wish more women would know about the effects of Osteopathic treatment, as it can change their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Every woman, carrying a little Miracle inside deserves to have a proper care during this challenging and magical journey!
P.S.
On the pictures is a beautiful Mum who got my treatment in between of her contractions on the Labour ward. We had a series of treatments prior to this to prepare her for the most gentle and easy delivery.
